However, there are instances when a nursing home is inadequately staffed, and serious injuries can occur. Federal regulations require that nursing homes be sufficiently staffed, that supervised medical care be available for all residents, and that the quality of life be maintained and/or enhanced for patients. There are a number of other regulations that also apply. Nursing homes, assisted-living facilities, hospitals, and all medical providers should be professionally and personally responsible when treating their patients and residents.
